La Capella is the space used by Barcelona's Institut de Cultura to showcase the work of emerging artists. In recent years, its activities have focussed on the organisation of exhibitions with the aim of bringing the public into contact with some of the most innovative works by the city's artists. The project BCN Producció, which was begun in 2006, is currently the main feature on La Capella's programme of events. It aims to foster the participation of artists and professionals in the sector, selected by an independent panel of judges on the basis of public competitions.
Thanks to the BCN Producció programme as well as the other activities carried out, La Capella places itself in a prime position on Barcelona's contemporary art scene, which complements the efforts of spaces such as the Sala d'Art Jove, Sant Andreu Contemporani and Can Felipa in the realm of emerging artists.
